Hello everyone! This is a friendly reminder that any of these fun places we may visit, we are a guest at. Please treat both businesses and trails with the utmost respect. We here at Hidden San Diego follow the 'Leave no Trace' mantra, meaning whatever you bring with you comes back with you. If you see trash on a trail, please do your part to help remove it. Remember, we are not picking up trash from another person but instead cleaning up for Mother Nature. Happy adventures!

Old Cactus Garden

About the Old Cactus Garden

The historic Old Cactus Garden was developed under the direction of Kate Sessions for the 1935 California Pacific International Exposition. It contains some of the largest cactus and succulent specimens in the Park and has also been developed to include the exotic African and Australian Protea plants. It is located on the west side of the Balboa Park Club.

Personal Experience

There are so many interesting and beautiful spots to explore in San Diego. Many that you possibly had no clue existed unless you were really poking around all corners. This is one of those spots. It’s located above Palm Canyon, in fact, there’s a trail that connects these two spots. I am still trying to figure out what that old, stone ruin once was. Anyone know?

While you’re in the area, make sure to check out the Spruce St. Suspension bridge nearby!

Balboa Park is so lovely. Every inch of it, I swear. What’s even lovelier is it’s actually quite large, with so many secretive crevices to discover!
