Hello everyone! This is a friendly reminder that any of these fun places we may visit, we are a guest at. Please treat both businesses and trails with the utmost respect. We here at Hidden San Diego follow the 'Leave no Trace' mantra, meaning whatever you bring with you comes back with you. If you see trash on a trail, please do your part to help remove it. Remember, we are not picking up trash from another person but instead cleaning up for Mother Nature. Happy adventures!

San Diego has its own magical forest the locals call Narnia, complete with secret swings, tiny caves and a raging creek!

NARNIA IS PART OF OUR MEMBERS SECTION

Dog-Friendly: On leash, yes    Kid-Friendly: No

I toyed with whether or not to post this spot.  The graffiti is heartbreaking afterall.  Amongst all the color, if you look closely enough, are metates.  This was once a Native American kitchen as the grinding holes (metates) reveal.  There is such a lack of respect for nature here.

I feel this is largely a teenage hangout and kids often aren't aware that the destruction they are causing is so harmful to the environment. This spot is a milder version of Adobe Falls, in that there is graffiti and water, but not really any waterfalls.  Some kids were calling this spot the Goonies, so it definitely has several names.  The Goonies was one of my favorite movies as a kid and I don't feel this spot earns that name.  Rum Runners Cave is closer to being like the Goonies in my opinion.

The reason for putting this spot up is mainly for the secret swings, although this area is very tranquil.  We plan on documenting all the secret swings throughout the city to show that there are more than just the over-populated Secret Swings in La Jolla.  There is a creek that runs through this area which turns into a raging river after a good rainfall.  I did like that there are trash cans put here to encourage people to throw their trash away.

You will see a small talus cave slot that leads to the swing:

The second secret swing is right up stream:

We met a decent amount of teens hanging out here at the time.  This is definitely a hang-out spot for the youth. Please be respectful to everyone you meet if you visit here as there are many walks of life.

Another sweet girl we met while here:

This was cool to see.  Bees creating a swarm. Swarming is the process by which a new honey bee colony is formed when the queen bee leaves the colony with a large group of worker bees.

    My friends and I put up the first swing here years ago. They’re now gone after being posted to this site. Some of the people who these swings up have passed away now and it’s sad to see them go. Thanks Hidden San Diego

    @Anonymous,

    This place is pretty safe. If it puts your mind at ease, it borders a pretty popular park, so if anything were to happen you could quickly get to the park and get help. A lot of kids hang out here and do illegal things, so be weary of that. There are snakes and other animals running around, and me and friends have seen some evidence of drug use (i.e needles, marijuana, etc.) but it’s safe overall.

    There’s a lot more not pictured! Definitely recommend going back to see the rest of it,if you follow one of the trails. Me and a few friends are going here in a week or so to clean it up and do what we can to make this place a little bit nicer!

    Your desire to help clean up is a testament to how today’s youth is aware, engaged and motivated to maintain our environment. Every action counts. I am happy and relieved to see evidence that our planet is in good hands….
