Hello everyone! This is a friendly reminder that any of these fun places we may visit, we are a guest at. Please treat both businesses and trails with the utmost respect. We here at Hidden San Diego follow the 'Leave no Trace' mantra, meaning whatever you bring with you comes back with you. If you see trash on a trail, please do your part to help remove it. Remember, we are not picking up trash from another person but instead cleaning up for Mother Nature. Happy adventures!

MAKE SURE TO CHECK OUT ALL THE HIDDEN GEMS IN POINT LOMA!

About the Point Loma Native Plant Garden

The Point Loma Native Plant Garden was a lot more than I had expected. This is definitely a must-visit spot for garden and plant lovers.

Tucked away in a residential Point Loma neighborhood sits this beautiful native plant garden brimming with rare and endangered plant species.  We visited in late spring and a ton of plants were blooming at the time.

While you’re in the area, make sure to check out Cabrillo National Monument nearby!

The plot of land where the native garden sits was vacant in the 70’s and 80’s when the Point Loma Garden Club teamed up with the City’s Parks and Recreation Department.

Together they laid out a plan for pathways and gardens for the public to enjoy.  Today, the maintenance and beautification is managed by the River Park Foundation and volunteers. And you are invited to help!

The Gardening Volunteer Team meets on first Saturday and third Sunday of each month, from 9 – 11 am. Activities include: watering, planting, path maintenance, etc. The garden is also open for tours at this time.

All tools are provided, but please wear closed-toe shoes and clothes that can get a little dirty. Sun protection and a reusable water bottle are a good idea too!

RSVPs required for volunteers: Please call (619) 297-7380 or email [email protected]. Community service hours can be verified for those that require them.
