Hello everyone! This is a friendly reminder that any of these fun places we may visit, we are a guest at. Please treat both businesses and trails with the utmost respect. We here at Hidden San Diego follow the 'Leave no Trace' mantra, meaning whatever you bring with you comes back with you. If you see trash on a trail, please do your part to help remove it. Remember, we are not picking up trash from another person but instead cleaning up for Mother Nature. Happy adventures!

About the Tijuana River Valley Regional Park Community Garden:

The Tijuana River Valley Regional Park Community Garden is actually the largest community garden in all of San Diego County!  Located in Imperial Beach, it contains an impressive 5 acres of land with 136 garden plots.

It is exciting to see all the walks of life that the members come from, and the diversity really shows in the crops that are grown. People from all ages come here, trading delicious crops and gardening advice with each other.  As many of the people do not have their own yards to garden in, this is a wonderful opportunity to get to connect with the land.

A community garden fosters many wonderful things, such as increased consumption of fruits and vegetables to combat malnutrition and obesity. Gardeners have also commented on the therapeutic benefits of caring for their plants and experiencing the reward of their time and effort.

There is currently a waiting list for plots. If you live in the South Bay area, and would like to add your name to the waiting list, please contact Ann Baldridge at (619) 562-0096.

While you’re in the area, make sure to visit the Tijuana River Valley Regional Park Bird & Butterfly Garden!

Personal Experience: If I lived down here you better believe I’d be applying for a plot. This seems like a slice of heaven to me. The plots are HUGE, enough to make work stations or little huts and still have plenty of room for a lovely garden. I met a lovely couple who said it’s $100 per year! That is an insanely cheap price! Gardening is one of the most rewarding and peaceful hobbies one can get into.
