From Alter Experience’s website: Welcome to Alter Experiences & thank you for supporting our efforts towards sustainable tourism development in San Diego. By visiting Alter Experiences LLC & the Central Mountain region, you’re already making a positive environmental choice in destination. We need the help of our visitors to conserve and protect the natural resources of the region.
We have multiple affiliate locations in Julian, Laguna Mountain & the Lake Cuyamaca area. Where you’ll be staying will depend on many factors including; accommodation style, season, groups size, etc. Many factors come into play for us to deliver this one of a kind outdoor hospitality experience. Our primary sites are in the Cleveland National Forest – Mount Laguna Recreation Area. All of sites are within the general vicinity of Lake Cuyamaca – Julian – Laguna Mountain region.
Our sites are located in the San Diego Central Mountain regions, which are remote mountainous areas at elevations of 5,000+ feet. The drive up HWY 79 is windy road & encounters with wildlife such as Deer, Turkey & even Coyote are common along the route.
The region is very unique in that it’s located at the geographic center of San Diego. The drive should take just over an hour from anywhere in San Diego county.
Your exact site location will be provided upon booking confirmation. One of our team members will be in touch with you and give you an in-depth briefing about our site, location, accommodations, local attractions and safety.
At Alter Experiences, we believe that every booking is new and unique. We look forward to exceeding your expectations and tailoring an outdoor hospitality experience specific to your group needs.
We strive to create nature immersive, meaningful and hassle free experiences in the outdoors.
Personal Experience: This is now my third time staying at one of Alter Experience’s locations. The first time was at Fort Cross in Julian. Although Alter Experiences is no longer offering glamping at the Fort Cross location, we still keep our experience up for the memories. The second time we stayed with them was at one of their tree tent locations in Mt. Laguna.
We were thrilled to come out yet again to experience a location we hadn’t stayed at yet at the Burnt Rancheria Campground. Not only does this location sit right next to the Pacific Crest Trail, you are also close to many other amazing hikes such as Foster Point, Laguna Meadows and Monument Peak.
Glamping is the perfect middle ground for those who want to enjoy the perks of camping but still want the luxury of a comfy bed. The interior is finely decorated with plush pillows and dressers for storage, but the second you step outside you are welcomed by the forest. I love getting to fall asleep to the sounds of wildlife while sleeping in such a cozy bed! Another perk is knowing you don’t have to pack up camp! Their glamping site sits directly next to their tree tents so you can check out or even rent both while you’re here!
The kitchen is all set up, stocked with cooking essentials and just beckoning a delicious meal to be cooked!
There is a hiking trail 5 minutes from the site that takes you along the Pacific Crest Trail. Look for this sign:
Very quickly you will be greeted with stunning views!
So much magic in the night!
We were so lucky to be glamping right alongside the owners and creators of Quecho restaurant in Julian, whom invited us to feast with them!
